There are important steps to take in protecting your family and home from an unexpected fire emergency. One of those ways is to have a fire extinguisher on hand and ready. It's not enough to just have a fire extinguisher, you have to know how to properly use it. Using the the acronym P.A.S.S. is one of the best ways to learn how to accurately use it:

• PULL the pin
• AIM the nozzle at the base of the fire
• SQUEEZE the handle to release the fire extinguishing agent
• SWEEP the nozzle from side to side until the fire appears to be out
